A Dog of War

This is not a new image, but it is definitely one of my favorite images. To my mind warriors, preferably ancient warriors, make the best of subjects. They lived in such a brutal, primal world, without the benefit of guns, cell phones, tanks, long range missiles and so forth. They prayed to some gods for victory and made offerings to other gods for safe sea voyages. They lived, and died by their skills in battle, or the lack of skills. With this image, I sought to capture that sort of look and feel, the mindset of a warrior who lived in such brutal, savage times. I believe that I did.
